Actress Sushmita Sen who is a Bengali spoke about her fondness for Durga Puja when she had come to celebrate the festival at a Puja Pandal at Bandra.
“For me this is a time to pray for her motherly love .I come to pray for all those who are in pain or are feeling weak,it feels really good to pray for them.So I come here every year ” ,the actress said.
Sushmita also spoke about her faith in the goddess and how she celebrates the festival in Mumbai.
“She has two Roops. One which we call Jai mata Di and the other one which we call Maa Durga. I believe in all her Roops and celebrate Durga Puja every year .In my own house I have a very beautiful idol of Maa Durga.
When Maa Durga comes to meet us then this is a time when being at Mumbai I have realised that first Maa Durga’s son Ganpatiji comes to meet us then his mother comes ”,the former Miss Universe said.
She also spoke how she loves dressing up on Durga puja being a Bengali.
" From where I have come no one plays Garba there.I have been to Baroda when my dad was posted there then there I had seen how people celebrate Garba with lot of enthusiasm.
But in our Bengal a Puja comes on Durga Ashtami. Its called Shandi puja. That day also I go out very beautifully dressed because it feels good to celebrate her victory."
The actress also went philosophical explaining how we forget the joys of childhood celebrations.
"I think everyone has a lot of enjoyment in their childhood whether they become famous or not. When we grow up we don’t enjoy life much.
So I feel its a part of growing up.But I feel until there is a devotion or belief in someone in any season, any age , any period of life then it feels really good ". she said.
