Makers of the ‘Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz’ hosted special screening of their film on Monday in Mumbai. Bollywood celebrities Sharman Joshi, Raveena Tandon, Dipannita Sharma, Deepak Dobriyal, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Mitoon and Zain Khan Durrani attended special screening of the film.

Here’s what they said about the movie -

Sharman Joshi – I am really excited for this film. Onir is my dear friend. I have worked with Onir in ‘Sorry Bhai’ so I am really looking forward to this film. Romance is what Onir is very good at. I am sure he has made a good film.

Talking about direction of Onir, Joshi said, “He is lovely. His aesthetics are beautiful just the way of his storytelling and it is done with lot of panache, style yet lot of depth to it so I am sure this film will be no different.”

Raveena Tandon - I am actually excited because coming this kind of film from Onir, this is a pleasant surprise as he doesn’t make this regular, fun romances so I am very excited to watch this. It’s something that I know he will do a great job because Onir very sensitive, kind hearted soul so when he makes something it will definitely turns out to be beautiful. I have heard that both actors have done great Job. Geetanjali (Thapa) is established but the boy (Zain Khan Durrani) is also so good. I have seen the trailer and this is something I am looking forward to”

Talking about Onir’s direction, Raveena said, “As a director it is very necessary especially being a man to understand all the nuances of each character. If feel as man you have to have that sensitivity in your heart, you have to be able to understand emotions very well to be able to portray to your audience so this is the plus he has in him which I think is really fantastic and that also one reason, I am looking forward to this film.”

Talking about release of ‘Padmaavat’, Raveena said, “I am absolutely waiting for the release of ‘Padmaavat’. I am huge fan of Ranveer (Singh) and Deepika (Padukone). I think they are magic together and with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in it, this film will be unstoppable”

Onir - It’s my first venture into total romance and I think response to our film has been overwhelming. People are loving the pairing of Zain Khan and extremely talented Gitanjali Thapa. I am looking forward for the release of the film since the response for trailer is so good. Today we have organized the first screening so I am looking forward to how everyone reacts to a film”

When asked Onir was there any particular reason to do a romantic film, Onir said, “I think I was going through romantic phase in life”

In ‘Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz’, makers has used ‘Pehla Nasha’ song from Aamir Khan movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ talking about using that in his film, Onir said, “When I was in college, that song  struck the chord with all of us , I still remember going to the theatre and the entire theatre was singing ‘Pehla Nasha’ when the song came. I am so fortunate that I making this movie with Sa Re Ga Ma (music label) so they had this song with them. Zain plays radio jockey in the film who plays old Hindi songs and when I had to choose, I thought theme of the film can become ‘Pehla Nasha’ because this film is about experiencing true love for the first time and it also connects to my college days when it was like anthem for everybody. Mansoor Khan gave us the permission to use little bit of original song’s footage in my film so I think its best possible song that could be theme for this film.

Zain Khan Durrani – It’s amazing that I got chance in my first movie to work on such a lovely script and then to be working with director who is so good with his work, who understands human emotions so well and subtly portrays in his films and then for him to be doing a romantic film first time and it’s my debut film so it’s a privilege”

When asked Zain whether he is nervous about release of the film, he said, “Actually its very mixed feeling. I am excited and nervous. I can’t really make out how I am. It’s also the first time I am watching the movie so nervousness has been coupled with that.”

The movie is a modern-day love story in the age of social media, as seen through two primary characters - RJ Alfaaz, played by debutant actor Zain Khan Durrani, and meme artist Archana, played by Geetanjali Thapa.

The cast also includes Shray Rai Tiwari, Mona Ambegaonkar, Chandrayee Ghosh, Sourav Das, Barun Chanda and Shaheb Bhattacharjee.

‘Kuchh Bhege Alffaz’ is directed by Onir and produced by Vikram Mehra and Siddharth Anand Kumar.

The film releases on 16th February – on the Valentine’s Day weekend.
