“Modi Plays a Pakistani, it’s a bit controversial” says Avani Modi at the Poonam Salecha Art Exhibition.

Calendar Girl Modi Avani, Jackie Shroff and ace actor Parikshit Sahni graced the grand opening of Art Exhibition by Punam A Salecha.

Art Exhibition was hosted by Lotus-Women Art Foundation, whose sole motive is expanding the horizon of women artists by supporting the talented and deserving women artists across the country.

“When they called me, they said you would need to speak about women empowerment but right now I am speechless. The way she (punam) is contributing to society, I guess I am feeling empowered now and she has inspired me a lot, to do a lot for society, thank you so much for doing this for me” says Avani Modi.

Avani Modi will be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s next hard hitting and controversial movie, Calender Girls, in which Avani plays an important role.

“Madhur always make women oriented films. In Calendar Girls, I play a Pakistani girl, Naazneen Malik, Modi plays a Pakistani girl, that’s a bit controversial, everybody ask me, why Madhur gave me such a role, I don’t know why he gave me such a role but she is strong character, she is a very bold girl. She is very ambitious, dream girl” Says Avani.
