“Whatever we gain in College and School, I think that remains with you forever” says Amitabh Bachchan at his Alma Mater Kirori Mal College, where he, along with other alumni members, assembled to raise funds to rebuild the college theatre, which is in the name of their Drama teacher Frank Thakurdas.

“Frank Thakurdas, was a guru of sorts to all of us, because of him we all got associated with theatre and later with Cinema, in his memory if we are able to make this theatre, it will be great” adds Amitabh Bachchan while interacting with media about the initiative.

Amitabh Bachchan, who donated Rs.51 lakh to the cause, said that he had studied science at Kirori Mal from 1959-62. But, it was his English professor Thakurdas who had encouraged him to pursue theatre, which had stayed with him till date. He added that, he had seen the theatre’s sad condition where he had performed and that’s why they all have joined hands for its resurrection.

Satish Kaushik and Kabir Khan along with many other alumni members were spotted at the event.
