Alia Bhatt is all set the charm her fans with her powerful role in Udta Punjab. While talking about her role in the film the ‘ Highway’ actress said it is the most difficult role she has portrayed.
“It has been the toughest part. It actually took some more time to convincing Abhishek (Choubey) that I can do a character like this. But I am so glad that Shahid decided to give it to me.” She said at the press conference held today to discuss the victory of Udta Punjab against the Central Board of Film Certification.
Alia, who plays a Bihari migrant working in the fields of Punjab, says, “First of all the character I am playing is not Kumari Pinki. I can’t take her name. The idea what screamed out of the character isn’t that she was a Bihari. The issue was the state or condition she was in. I don’t how much the dialect of Bihar and Punjab I have picked up and how convincingly I put it off that I think only Abhishek Choubey can answer.”
Continuing to talk on absorbing traits and experiences for her roles, the young actress shared, “I can definitely say what I took away from that character was far more disturbingly pleasant and far more advanced and ahead just the fact she belongs to Bihar. I would not wish anybody should go through what she went through like people who under the abuse issue. I have learnt so many things, not only the willpower, just the kind of strength some people really need to live a life. I couldn’t relate to her but empathize with the character.”
Udta Punjab stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh. It is slated to release on 17th June.
