Salman Khan “Arms Act” Case Judge Steps back!

News Helpline | May, 20 2015

Here comes the new turn in Salman Khan’s notorious Arms Act case, now the presiding judge, Vijay Vishnoi has taken a step back and recused himself from the case. That means there was some potential conflict of interest or lack of impartiality.

Justice Vishnoi requested the Chief Justice Sunil Ambwani to present the case before another bench. The case will now be delegated to another judge.

“Now the Chief Justice will decide which court would hear this petition. Till then we would have to wait.” Confirms Salman Khans’s counsel.

Justice Vijay Vishnoi belongs to “Vishnoi” community, who holds the blackbuck as sacred, so his stepping back is quite understandable.

Chinkara or blackbuck, that Salman Khan allegedly killed in 1998, have been categorised as “near threatened” in the International Union for Conservation of Nature red list. Which could be another added burden for the actor.

During the Filming of “Hum Saath Saath Hain” leading actor Salman got entangled in the Arms Act case when he was booked for using illegal weapons (expired licence) while hunting the chinkaras in Rajasthan.
