Maatr is a Wakeup Call – Raveena Tandon

Ravi Sharma | March, 30 2017

“Maatr is a wakeup call” says Raveena Tandon during the trailer launch of intense social drama by Ashtar Sayed.

The much awaited trailer of revenge thriller based on crime against women, Maatr, which talks about Indian slowly turning into rape destination, is out and it just shakes you down to your core.

Raveena Tandon, who plays the main protagonist, is hell bound to avenge the injustice done to her daughter and herself, talks about the true intention of the movie.

“The intention behind this movie is not to win any award. The situation is such in our country that we need a wakeup call. If you look at statistics, crime against women is growing day by day. Despite the rise in crime our leaders, politicians or judicial system mindset is not changing. The intention is to make people aware, send the message clearly, it’s time to act” says Raveena Tandon at the trailer launch.

The movie features an impressive ensemble of Divya Jagdale, Madhur Mittal, Shailender Goyal, Anurag Arora, Alisha Khan and Rushad Rana.

Raveena also talked about mindset of people and why it needs changing. She said “Changing mindset of people is crucial. Victims are often brutalized with inappropriate questioning and commenting. People make comments like, why did she wear jeans? Or short cloths? Or why was she out so late? People are shaming the victim more, rather than offering apology as political leaders or responsible citizens, because they have failed to provide protection to victim”

Raveena Tandon also talked about balancing her life; hence she has turned selective about the roles or films. She only associates with subject or issues close to her heart.

“Being selective about roles for me has always been self-made decision. I don’t want my movie to release every week. I get many scripts and movies but I refuse most of them, because either I have done such role before”

“But for artist in me, requires something challenging, something that pushes me beyond my limits and something that I believe in and to do something I believe in, always help me put the message across with conviction. When I believe than only I can make someone else believe or get the message” adds Raveena.

Movie release on 21st April 2017.
