1993 blasts inspired Nikhil Advani to make D-Day

News Helpline | November, 29 2012

Nikhil Advani, who is busy shooting D-Day in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, says that 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai inspired him to make this movie. Though many filmmakers have made films on the similar subjects and on the master mind behind the blasts Dawood Ibrahim, Nikhil says that his film is not totally based on the 1993 blasts but it is about the four men that are trapped into a situation.

“D Day is about a particular day when things go either very right or wrong. It is an espionage film. It has got a lot of action. I would love to talk about the plot of the film, but it is like giving away too much of information. When the 1993 Mumbai blasts happened, it was very fresh in my mind. That is one event in my life that actually made me sit back and figure out what I was. I was not connected to it directly. For the first time I realised I was a Hindu...and I did not like it. I grew up in a city, which is cosmopolitan; where everybody was treated in the same way,” Nikhil said.

D-Day stars Irrfan Khan and Arjun Rampal as RAW agents, Rishi Kapoor as Dawood Ibrahim and Huma Qureshi as immigration officer. The film is currently at a filming stage.
