We don’t value environment at all says Juhi Chawla

Ashwin Sheshware | November, 12 2019

Actress Juhi Chawla, who also works for social causes, has said that people of India don’t value environment at all. She also urged people to plant trees as much as possible for the future generation.

Juhi Chawla was interacting with the media when she launched radio channel 92.7 Big FM’s #IGiftEyeSight campaign on Monday in Mumbai.

Talking about her association with ‘Cauvery Calling’ campaign, Juhi said, “We don’t value environment at all. We are deteriorating the situation on every single day. We are even famous all over the world because most of the polluted cities belong to our country. It is not an achievement but we should be feeling ashamed about it. We are constructing buildings and cutting down trees. It’s not a wise decision but a stupid decision. When we are going to realize those things? We are making things worse for our future generations.”

Juhi urged people of the country to plant trees as much as possible, she said, “I feel to tackle this issue, we don’t need a rocket science but we can do our bit by planting trees as much as possible and we have to care of trees for the first 3-4 years and after that, they will start giving you benefits of it. They give you oxygen and shadow. They protect you from global warming and soil deterioration so, Cauvery Calling is one such project which is initiated by Shri Sadhuguru Jaggi Vasudev. Under that initiative, they are to trying plant 200 crores trees around Kaveri river in next 12 years. He can’t do that alone so, we all need to support him. It is not a big thing. People need to contribute just Rs. 42 to plant one tree under that initiative. Our country’s population is really large so, if can plant around one billion trees then, it will be really beneficial for us only.”

Talking about her association with 92.7 Big FM’s #IGiftEyeSight campaign, Juhi said, “I think when things are us with us, till that time we don’t value them. When you hurt your one finger then you realize that it was meant for some use but this campaign has been launched to create awareness about importance of eyes which such an important organ of human beings. Without eyes, we can’t imagine the world. We are raising funds through this campaign especially for elderly people. They have weak eye sight as compared to other age groups so, if we can help them to retain their eye sight then in their last few years, they can live their life with dignity.”

When asked Juhi how does she feels when she associate herself with social causes, she said, “We all work for ourselves but when we associate ourselves with a good cause then, you really good sleep. You feel satisfy that you have done something good. I believed in the cause and I thought its very simple and necessary thing to do for our future generation.”

On film front, Juhi Chawla last seen onscreen in ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ along with Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Rajkummar Rao.
