Actor Emraan Hashmi, who will be seen essaying former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin's role in 'Azhar', says the trend of making biopics is a great nowadays.
“This is the trend that is actually started off a couple of years back. I keep saying this that the films here are not a biopic in the traditional sense. I would say these are semi-biopic in nature, like Azhar, as you are adding songs and taking a bit of creative liberty. Although we have a lot of facts that have been documented and we put them in the film. But it’s a great trend because it also has also a sense of realism.” He said at the interview for Azhar.
“A film like Azhar is a person who is closely followed and it’s the first biopic of its nature. I would be very exciting how the audience takes an interest in this film.” the 37-year-old added.
To a question which part of the film attracted him, says The ‘Jannat’ actor, “Azharuddin’s life journey blends itself with a cinema. He (Azharuddin) has seen everything, from struggling period to great success and then terrible fall. Everything snatched away from him. He was just about to complete his 100 test matches and his career was taken away. But when he vindicates the court case it was like a playing his 100 test match. So it’s beautiful but a tragic story also as Azhar Bhai has also lost his son.” The actor added despite his many tragic moments in life ‘Azhar Bhai is a strong person’.
Emraan who plays offside well, admits he has trained extensively to get right Azharuddin's signature moves, known as one of the masters of the onside of the cricketing field.
