Acclaimed music director who is conferred with the ‘Pride of the Industry’ award at Sansui Colors Stardust Awards said the award brings him a great pride, at a time while the young music directors are providing their excellent contribution in Hindi film music, “It was a great moment. People are saying I fought back. Today young composers are very talented and I believe they are doing a fantastic job. Getting an award amongst such talented people, I take it as a personal victory. It was an emotional moment for me to receive an award in front of Bollywood’s biggies.” The composer said at the Felicitation Ceremony organized by Videocon.
 

In recent work, Malik has composed songs for Ayushman Khuranna and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, which in many ways invokes the nostalgic ’90s melodious Hindi film music. The singer cum composer has also won Best Music Director Award for the same.
 

“I also received Zee cine award, which was a huge moment for me. I was sharing a list of nominations with the album like Tamasha, Bajirao Mastani, Roy, Dil Dhadakne Do. All are superb and in between them, Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ was selected which is a big thing.” National Award winner composer added. 
 

Malik shot to fame in the 1990s with Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee in 1992, Baazigar, Jaanam, Sir, Tehelka, Chamatkar, Maa and the next step was the Filmfare award for Baazigar beating Laxmikant-Pyarelal for Khalnayak in 1994.
 

Work wise the 55-year-old music director has composed music for Neeraj Vora’s Hera Pheri 3. It is a sequel to 2006 film Phir Hera Pheri and the third installment of Hera Pheri film series. Actors Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty will reprise their roles while Akshay Kumar who played the role of Raju in the prequels, has opted out.  Actors Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham are new additions to the lead cast.
