“Priyanka was certain only she can do Abha Mathur”- Prakash Jha

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who will be seen essaying a cop in director Prakash Jha’s much awaited film ‘Jai Gangajal’ was very much certain that she could justify the role appropriately says the acclaimed director Jha. Priyanka plays a role of furious cop ‘Abha Mathur’ who tackles the criminals with her armed force of policemen.
 
Speaking at an exclusive interview Prakash Jha said, “Me and Priyanka were on talking for years to work together. When I started working on the film I asked Priyanka how she would manage her time as she was filming for Bajirao Mastani and had to shoot for Quantico. I narrated the script briefly to her and she insisted that only she could portray Abha Mathur and nobody else.” 
 
The 63-year-old helmer is known for his films like Apaharan, Raajneeti, Aarakshan and Satyagraha, “Priyanka was always my first choice. Priyanka made her dates available for the film in between Bajirao and Quantico and completed the film.” added the director.
 
Jha is making his acting debut with Jai Gangaajal, also dons the role of a cop along with Priyanka said, “Regarding my role B.N Singh, DSP when I was writing the script I met some DSP s from different states. I get to know closely about them, their mannerism, how they behave, why people have typical notion for them. Considering all these facts I thought to portray the role. I have ventured into all aspects of film making except acting which is also an integral part. I always wanted to explore this dimension.”
 
The filmmaker is happy that his co-actors lend him overwhelming support said Jai Gangaajal is not a prequel or a sequel to Ajay Devgn starrer Gangaajal but is a fresh story.
 
Written and directed by Prakash Jha, produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment and co-produced by Milind Dabke, Jai Gangaajal revisits the dusty heartland of Central India and examines the societypolice relationship. Starring Priyanka Chopra, Manav Kaul and Rahul Bhat the movie is all set to release on4th March, 2016.
