Movie Review
Rating :
Verdict : Yaariyan has only one thing going for it - the music. Apart from Music total waste of time ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T-Series, the makers of ‘Aashiqui 2’ and many other blockbuster films are back with a student rom-com titled ‘Yaariyan’. Directed by Divya Kumar Khosla, the film has all new faces in the lead roles and has released today amidst a lot of publicity. Let’s read on to see how ‘Yaariyan’ is.
Story:-
The movie starts out introducing five friends who incidentally are the worst students of their college. One fine day, their principal requests them to take part in a competition in order to save their college being taken over by a rich business man. The rest of ‘Yaariyan’ is about how these worst students manage to get overcome their troubles and win their college back.

Positive Points:-
Veteran Deepti Naval is the only saving grace of the film as she gives an honest performance. While the songs in the movie have been shot exceptionally well, Evelyn Sharma provides the necessary glamour quotient to the film.
Negative Points:-
If you have seen films like ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’, the ‘Dhoom’ series, ‘Chak De India’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ (to name a few), then get ready to experience a spoof of all these films in ‘Yaariyan’. In just 10 mins into the film, one can easily predict on what will be happening in the next scene.
Some of the new faces give some forgettable performances. Also, the film is so long that by the time the second half starts, you would probably have forgotten about what happened in the first half.
Technical Points:-
After viewing ‘Yaariyan’, one can advice Director Divya Khosla Kumar that she definitely shouldn’t try direction again! Her work lacks focus while the screenplay and camerawork are not up to the mark. Except for Honey Singh’s ‘Pani Pani’ song, there are too many songs in the plot which are no good. Also, the dialogues are clichéd and lack the punch.
Yaariyan is a 2014 Bollywood coming-of-age romance adventure film directed by Divya Khosla Kumar, starring Himansh Kohli, Serah Singh and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. It marks the debut of the director as well as the lead star cast. The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series Super Cassettes Industries.
Shot in St. Joseph's School, Darjeeling, Yaariyan tells the story of 5 close friends who are exploring the best moments of their lives in college, experiencing different relationships and learning new values every day. The response to the promotional material on YouTube led the distributor to release the film two weeks earlier than initially planned.
