Verdict : Tanu Weds Manu Returns traces the problems of a love marriage, So Just go and watch. __________________________________________________________

Anand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns is one of the much awaited flicks in Bollywood this year. This movie is a sequel to the super hit romantic entertainer Tanu Weds Manu, which released in 2011. Both Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan reprised their roles from the first version. This movie hit the screens today. So Let’s see how it is

Story :-

'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' is a sequel to 2011 released film 'Tanu Weds Manu' and continues the after marriage tale of Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (R. Madhavan). After their marriage, Manu and Tanu settle in London, where Manu is a professional doctor and Tanu is a home-maker. After 4 years, due to the monotony in their married life and dissatisfaction with their behaviors, both of them decide to part ways and they reach their native places in India with the intention to get divorced.

At her parents' place, Tanu meets a new tenant Chintu (Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub) and Manu returns back to his parents with the help of his friend Pappi (Deepak Dobriyal). Manu receives a legal notice for divorce with Tanu and at that time  Manu comes across Kusum ( Kangana Ranaut), a lookalike of Tanu and falls in love with her. He decides to marry her and what happens next is what the entire film is all about.

Positive Points :-

Kangana Ranaut’s stellar performance is the major asset for this comedy entertainer. She made it look so easy while slipping into two different characters in this movie. Right from the start, she made a dazzling appearance and performed with a lot of ease and enthusiasm. With her acting prowess, she overshadowed the minor flaws in the movie. She displayed a spellbinding emotional performance in the climax.

Madhavan’s performance adds more glitz and glamour to this sequel. He has done complete justice to his role and his capricious character continues to entertain the audience till the end of the movie.

Deepak Dobriyal in the role of Pappi is the laughing stock for the entire movie. His role provided a much needed impetus to the story when it is slowing down. His typical dialogue delivery will bring plenty of laughs for the audience.

Adding much balance to the story, Jimmy Shergil provided some seriousness in the second half of the movie. Due credit should be given to the remaining actors who performed at par to their roles.

Negative Points :-

The major setback is that no other character apart from Kangana Ranaut is given thorough importance. Many artists in the movie were under utilized. It gives a feeling that few important characters were not given firm establishment.

The romantic track between Manu and Kusum is not so convincing. Very few scenes were setup between them and it is senseless that they decide to enter into a wedlock without much understanding between them.

Few unnecessary scenes in the second half takes the energy out from the entertaining tale and these scenes will test the patience of the audience.

Technical Points :-

Director has opted for a perfect script which is required for a sequel and he has included all the elements to woo the regular audience. His narration has been perfect and the way he linked all the characters in the emotional climax is top notch. He gave much importance to the entertaining elements and he took much care in handling the situational comedy through out the movie.

The melodious music score by Krsna Solo and other guest composers add much grace to this classic tale. The background score thorough out the movie is so adorable for the music lovers.

Cinematography by Chirantan Das is pretty captivating. The suburbs of North India were captured exceedingly well. Editing is fine as the length of the movie is well acceptable by the current standards of the Bollywood cinema.

On the whole, Tanu Weds Manu Returns traces the problems of a love marriage, it is a well crafted family entertainer which has all the elements required for a perfect sequel. A mind blowing performance from the award winning actress Kangana Ranaut and the entertaining elements tinged with a emotional climax makes it a good watch for the audience.
