My My My ! what a come back for the charming Nawab. no other film could have gained Saif so much fan following than Race 2. No matter if the film is a fast yet jerky ride, no matter if the film makes you feel nauseating with its jarring background score, one fact is very simple that Race and Saif has bavome a brand now like Don and James Bond. When you come out of the cinema hall you just remember that attitude and his killer looks.
On the whole Race 2 is fast, pacy, action packed thriller, which is heading nowhere. Ranveer Singh (Saif) is on a mission again - to avenge the death of his lady-love. On the race-track he encounters Armaan Mallick (John) and his half-sister Aleena (Deepika), reeking of wealth and power in Turkey. Omisha (Jacqueline) joins the race as Armaans seductive love-interest. Lastly, theres the conman, RD (Anil) and his X-factor Cherry (Ameesha), with their fruity diet and juicy one-liners. The story involves casinos, generous numbers of Audis – which at times make you wonder whether or not the film is a giant commercial for the car brand.
The screenplay, by Shiraz Ahmad, is all fluff. It’s a revenge story with a twist in almost every ten minutes. Everyone knows what the other person is planning. There’s a lot of backstabbing, cheating and lies going around. It may be enough to get you interested, but it gets tiring after a while.
As far as acting is concerned Saif is cool. As mentioned earlier he is a Brand, John is full of power but could not manage to look witty. Anil Kapoor is, well, bearable though the tables are turned on him this time with his secretary begging to get into his pants, instead of the other way around like in Race. Deepika’s acting skills are going up with every single film of hers. Jaqueline Fernandez has some really stylish fencing and archery scenes in the film – only that their purpose evades the senses. Bipasha appears in a very small role play Saif (Ranveers ) wife in his flashback.
Salim-Sulaiman’s background score matches the high-octane action scenes completely and is a huge advantage for the story – without it, the film might have been a pretty damp affair.Pritam;s songs are apt for the booz and party situations.
Over all the film is grand show off of money. Director has kept an open ending to start working on the sequel. As per Johns last dialogue - "Race jahan Khatam hoti hai wahin se shuru hoti hai". So audience do watch the film for Saifs cool attitude, Deepikas brain with guts and beauty type role, lavish and exotic locations and above all watch it for the duo Abbas Mastans typical thriller style with a touch of suspense.
