Verdict : If you love watching good and meaningful cinema then you shouldn't miss Masaan. ________________________________________________________

Story:-

The movie basically tells two separate stories of Devi Pathak (Richa Chadda) and Deepak Chaudhary (Vicky Kaushal). Devi's life changes after she is caught red handed with a fellow student in a shady hotel by inspector Mishra (Bhagwan Tiwari), as he starts to blackmail Devi and her father (Sanjay Mishra). On the other end, Deepak works on the ghats of the Ganga by burning bodies on funeral pyres and falls in love with Shaalu (Shweta Tripathi), who belongs to the upper class community and things do not happen as they had planned. What happens to the miseries in the life of Devi and Deepak is what the entire film is all about.

Positive Points:- 

Just like some of you, I too was extremely eager to watch the film for the huge of amount praises it has been gaining from the film industry and its huge word of mouth publicity. And I surely got delivered what was expected out of this marvel. The movie is unique and dares to catch the true essence of some of the towns in India. 

One of very best parts of the film is its amazing star cast. Not that they require any praises, but yes, they have all done a marvellous job. Richa Chadda is confident and charismatic in every scene. 

Sanjay Mishra lends good support and is extremely expressive. Vicky and Shweta look fresh and act surprisingly well. A few scenes including Richa being caught in a hotel by Bhagwan are amazingly realistic.

Negative Points:- 

The main point here is that the film wont really be able to impress our masala audiences. Its content is dark and daringly true, that not many people will be able to take it as intended. Another thing here is that the film somewhat slows down by the second half.

Technical aspects:-

Neeraj, who has earlier assisted Anurag Kashyap in his movies, really couldn’t have asked for a better directorial debut than Masaan. He is extremely talented and his style of helming is poetic. He very well focuses on some very small aspects of a small towns in India, which are extremely shocking. 

The cinematography is awesome as the camera very well covers even the small aspects of Indian towns and their good as well as bad aspects. The music album by Indian ocean is out of this world and blends well with the scenes. The track Mann Kasturi is flawless and will stay with you even after the movie. The editing of the film is excellent.

Last Word:-

On a whole,  'Masaan' is a simple yet highly powerful and engaging film with a total connection to our Indian roots.  Superb performance by Richa Chadda and Vicky Kaushal. The movie slows down in the middle part and might not appeal the masala entertaining audiences, but will be loved by everyone who love good and meaningful cinema.
