Verdict : Sujoy Ghosh Back With Entertainment Dose.

Well in the new trend of hide and seek movies KAHAANI has established its story in theaters today. Mid Feb. where Archana Joglekar failed to convince the audience let’s find out will the OH LA LA girl make it. Vidya had tried all ventures to promote Kahaani. Long time promoting this film with a big belly; I’m sure Vidya must be tired now. She is just hoping for good results of her work. Will the promotions and her hard work turn out to be the film’s success? 

Kahaani - A story. We all love to listen stories. But to the fact all stories don’t have happy endings. Kahaani enfolds you to the rising fact of the mysteries behind the city of festive. Feast yourself with a story that says all dead ends are not to be believed. Vidya, Vidya Bakchi a married lady who finds happiness in her lives journey of roses and thons. Miles far away from India Arnab and Vidya (a software engineer) lived in London. Everything was working fine until one fine day Arnab decides to take up a project in India in Kolkata city. Leaving her pregnant wife all alone he walks on his journey to India.  Soon Vidya realizes that there is something fishy. As it’s been quite some time Arnab has not contacted her. Vidya lands in the city of Kolkata (India) in search of her husband. With all her love and respect for her relationship Vidya lands in a city where it’s difficult to find faces behind the mask. Where all others are trying to convince Vidya that, Arnab is no more Vidya’s realizes that nothing is what it seems.  In a city soaked in lies, 7 months pregnant Vidya is determined to unravel the truth about her husband - for herself and her unborn child - even at the cost her own life. Will Vidya Bakchi succeed in keeping her promise to her unborn child before HE/SHE is born?  Let’s find out!

Sujoy Ghosh is one of the finest film makers. We enjoyed watching his comic dramas like, Jhankar beats, home delivery And Aladin. For the first time he has ventured into thriller drama. To his fortune he has done a brilliant job. He is a good story teller and he has executed it in the most perfect way he could. Kahaani has well reveled the pains of a woman. Some places the shot have been taken so beautifully that it gives the feel of international shots. Well constructed story start to end. For a single second you don’t get detached from the story it keeps you hold your seat throughout. It was a thrill to watch the climax part which was totally unexpected. The climax was constructed beyond imagination. The last ten minutes was a treat to watch. Vidya has well illustrated the pain, the sympathy, love.  With regards to Dirty Picture   Vidya has given a speechless performance once again. Not dragging the story too much Sujoy well times it for 2 and half hours. Kahaani, a fast, fun, fearless thriller has made its place.  

The music of the film is given by Vishal and Shekher. Ami shoti bolchi, piya tu kahe rutha re are pic of the lot. EKLA CHOLO RE Well its Rabindranath Tagore’s written, originally sung by Tagore title as eka means alone. Amitabh has sung this song in his original voice for the film. People who love and adore Tagore may be a little annoyed with Big B as his pronunciation of Bengali words were not up to the mark. That’s a reason why most Bengali’s may not cherish the song but on an average Big B wasn’t that bad.  

Vidya as usual is a mesmerizing actress. She is believable in her character. From start to finish Vidya is been absolutely gorgeous and natural on the acting part. With big belly Vidya had a new charm in her looks that also added to her character.  With Vidya the other supporting actors have done well slipping deep into the skin of their characters. But on the whole the secondary real hero of the movie was Kolkata city. The Durga puja festival, the colorful streets, the morning tea - specially poured in clay mould cups, the sunrise near Ganga… each and every color of the Kolkata city is well shot. Sujoy does a very good job in executing the colors of Kolkata and of course Vidya adds to the color. Her Bengali looks is killer. Well Vidya is soothing to eyes and other factors run parallel to the story. But Vidya stands out as a real hero. In the entire movie it was only Vidya, Vidya and Vidya…..  In a short and sweet way Sujoy Ghosh criticizes Kolkata as double facet.  Kahaani is well deserved to be watch. Hence I would rate it 4 stars.
