Verdict : Hit

Kaamyaab is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films. An ode to every character artist, who ever walked this god green earth, Kaamyaab, is a well crafted, well versed, executed and packaged film!

The feature debut of Hardik Mehta, a National Award Winning director, brings the character artist saga on the forefront. The film chronicles a character artist, on the verge of his exit from cinema world, Sudheer, who has been a part of 499 films without any recognition, guns for a record of 500 films, which will justify his mere existence and all that has gone wrong in his life. Hence the roller coaster ride starts for Sudheer and his journey as he comes face to face with the stark realities of his life.

Sanjay Mishra as Sudheer is remarkable and delivers a stunning performance. He makes you laugh, cry and most importantly holds your attention for most part of the film. Deepak Dobiryal as casting agent is brilliant and his character is so relatable and flawed at the same time.

The film is just isn’t about one character, it’s about the side-heroes of our industry, who works for decades without having any victory, perhaps a small pay-cheque.

Sudheer’s relationship and tussle with his daughter and granddaughter illustrate the complexities of living with a small-time star.

The filmmaker ropes in side- kicks including Lilliput, Avtar Gill, Guddi and more, just to make the point clear. The filmmaker doesn’t divert from the subject and dwell into the style and glamour world of cinema; he keeps the narration on-point.

The climax is applause worthy!
