Student Of The Year's Jodi Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are back with another romantic comedy in the form of ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' from the Karan Johar banner Directed by Shashank Khaitan seems to be high influence of 'DDLJ'. So let's find out, whether 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' will manage to match up to the level of DDLJ or might be another half baked product trying to encash over the curiosity factor attached to it.
Story:-
'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' is a story of Kavya Pratap Singh (Alia Bhatt), who lives in Ambala with her family. Her father (Ashutosh Rana) has arranged her marriage in an NRI family known to him. She has her priorities clear, her only condition in this arrangement is an expensive designer lehenga for the wedding, which will cost about five lakh rupees. So she visits her uncle in Delhi where she meets Humpty Sharma (Varun Dhawan) who is a street smart Delhi boy. Kavya parties hard and drinks like a tank and Humpty can't help falling in love with this pataka. Soon the two fall in love but the problem is Kavya is going to be married soon. Kavya's husband-to-be, Angad (Siddharth) is Mr. Perfect and above all he is Kavya's father's choice. The rest of ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ is about how Humpty lands up in Ambala and wins his love back.
Positive Points:-
Starting with Varun Dhawan, this young actor is exceptionally good in the film as he portrays the character of Humpty with a lot of ease. He showcases some cute and innocent emotions quite brilliantly.
Once again as expected, Alia Bhatt is the star of the film. With each film, she is growing in confidence and gives a super performance as Kavya. She looks gorgeous and shares a super chemistry with Varun.
After a long gap, Ashutosh Rana plays an important role in the film which is quite critical. Also, the actors who have played the role of Varun’s friends have also done a superb job.
The music is another plus for this film and all the songs have been composed and shot absolutely well.
Negative Points:-
As mentioned earlier, this movie is another take on SRK’s DDLJ and there are many scenes which are exactly similar to the classic. Once the second half starts, the film becomes predictable with a second hero entering the scene.
After creating such a conflict situation with the second lead, the climax has been handled in a clichéd manner and makes no impact. Siddharth Shukla’s character has not been justified completely and does not have too much importance.
The so called hit number ‘Saturday Saturday’ comes only during the end titles roll.
Technical Points:-
The music of the film is superb 'Saturday Saturday', 'Lucky Tu', 'Maine Tenu' are great followed by other songs, which keeps you lighted up in this dull film. The camerawork is also good and showcases Delhi in a good light.
The screenplay of the movie is good, but gets bogged down towards the end. As expected, the production values are good as with all Karan Johar movies. The dialogues are very good and written to connect with the young audience. The editing is sharp while the background score is very good.
In Short, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania entertains you from the first frame to the last one. It's a refreshing film.
