Movie Review

Verdict : Entertainer

Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi is a laughing riot from lame jokes like MAKAJU to Jaisse Gill having emotional fits, it is an entertainer for the best part.

Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi has a very basic and no twists plot, the best it does is with the amazing performances, great screenplay, and ridiculous dialogues. The story begins when Happy (Sonakshi) has been kidnapped instead of Happy (Diana Penty) by Chinese Mafia led by a Half Pakistani-Chinese Denzil Smith. Following the confusion, J Bagga (Jimmy) and Afridi (Piyush) are dragged into it along with Khushwant Gill (Jaisse) and Gudu  (Ali Fazal).

This Mudassar Aziz directorial has the running time filled with one-liners that land right from the minute they show up on the screen to the end. The entire cast plays their part to the fullest, but the most impact is left by Jimmy Sheirgill and Piyush Mishra. Their fights that tease the India-Pakistan mentality to supporting each other when in time of need is what keeps the audience going.

Jimmy Shergill's chemistry and comic timing with Jaisse also adds to the film's flavor. No kind of humor has been left untouched, from their distress of each other's personality to over Sonakshi's love interest in hilarious to watch. The small cameo by Diana and Ali affect the story but do not leave a story presence. Poking fun at Aparshakti Khurrana gay character left me a little unsettled but they did try to justify it with Sonakshi's legitimate reason for being enraged with him.

The film staggers in the second half dragging the characters along. All you seem them do is run and travel which is the main plot of the film adding a lot of chasing on foot screen time. The climax and the main twist in the film does not surprise you demeaning its after effect and making it a weak climax.

But Jimmy Shergill dancing to Yaara O Yaara in a Superman costume makes up for it.

he film is a sequel to Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016).
