Films like 'Madhumati', 'Mahal', 'Mehbooba', 'Janam Janam', 'Hamesha', 'Prem', 'Karz', 'Kudrat', 'Karan Arjun', 'Om Shanti Om', 'Makkhi', 'Teri Meri Kahani' and many more were the successful inceptor of reincarnation films in our Bollywood industry. Some of them used to be a tale of two lovers getting departed in one lifetime and getting reunited in another while some of them were presented with a twist and had revenge drama attached to it. The first promo of Film 'Ek Paheli Leela' is very clearly shows that it is a film based on reincarnation. Film is Directed by Bobby Khan, and the starcast include Sunny Leone, Mohit Ahlawat, Rajniesh Duggal, Jay Bhanushali and Rahul Dev. So, let's find out whether 'Ek Paheli Leela', will be yet another typical reincarnation based film of two departed lovers or a game changer in this genre.
Story:-
Meera (Sunny Leone) is a supermodel from Milan, who leads a glamorous life. On the other hand, there is Karan (Jay Bhanushali), a talented musician who gets hold of an old record of Rajhasthani folk songs and while hearing it he keeps seeing horrible nightmares about a girl called Leela (Sunny Leone)
Time flies and Meera comes to Rajasthan for a shooting and thus a 300 hundred year old mystery is revealed which also features Karan, Leela and Shravan (Rajneesh Duggal).
How are Meera and Karan related ? and what is the history behind their troubled frights? That forms the rest of the story.
Positive Points:-
The only thing positive about the film is the involvement of sex serine Sunny Leone in it. While Vidya Balan very rightly said, ‘Filme sirf teen cheezon par chalti hain, entertainment, entertainment aur entertainment,’ ‘EK Paheli Leela’ has entertainment in the form of Sunny and her extreme skin show. The fact that the theatres were jam-packed even on a working day are proof enough, that Sunny possess a huge fan following.
Even though, she cannot act a bit, she has left no stone unturned to reveal how much ever she can to make this solo show of hers a hit. From playing a sexy British-Indian supermodel to a sexy Rajasthani beauty, Sunny Leone looks stunning in every shot. The makers very well knew the USP of the film and have worked only towards it to attain most business.
Negative Points:-
Well, everything else is just doesn’t work in favour of the film. None of the cast including Sunny Leone did not put in much effort to act as such. While Sunny’s Rajasthani accent will bleed in your ears, the other supporting cast including Mohit Ahlawat, Rajniesh Duggal, Jay Bhanushali and Rahul Dev, are pretty much unnoticeable and are only present to cheer Sunny.
The plot of the film revolves around the idea of re-incarnation, which has been tried and tested number of times before in the industry and thus Ek Paheli Leela has nothing new to offer in terms of the story-line and concept. Also the movie keeps travelling back and forth in time, making it even more confusing to understand.
Technical Points:-
The direction has nothing that can be spoken of as the director has concentrated on the lead actress of the film rather than the film’s story-line or screenplay. The movie however has been shot beautifully in the locales of Mumbai, London and Jodhpur. The dialogues of the film are purely disgusting. The involvement of lot of colours and mesmerizing aesthetics makes every shot look good.
The songs too are very well-shot and some of it are also mesmerizing, but five minutes in the movie, and you already get two songs. The movie has so many tracks, that it is hardly possible to get the gist of the plot, which is too puzzling.
The climax is extremely predictable and the screenplay goes haywire. While the first half creates some substance, the second only has songs and dance sequences.
