Movie Review
Rating :
Verdict : It's more entertaining than 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' and it is total "paisa vasool" film ______________________________________________
2011 witnessed a surprise hit in form of a youth based film 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama'. The movie failed to get some great reviews but was loved by the younger audiences as they could relate to this film which involved dating, relationships and break offs. With each passing year the fan base and popularity kept increasing due to the quirky humour attached to it. there is some delay but finally the makers of Pyaar Ka Punchnama have come up with the sequel of the film which releases today. So, let's find out whether 'Pyaar Ka Panchnama 2' will manage to give us yet another out and out fun filled film enhancing the level of its predecessor or might end up being yet another sequel trying to cash in over its past glory.
Story:-
The three male protagonists of Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 are successful Delhi-NCR professionals who share a swanky apartment with a balcony overlooking the city skyline. They have everything they need to live it up but for love. But when they do find love, they run into trouble with, and because of, the girls they date.
Anshul (Kartik Aaryan) finds himself up against the shopaholic Chiku (Nushrat Bharucha), a girl surrounded by friends desperate to free her from her latest relationship. The result is complete mayhem. Siddharth (Sunny Singh) falls in love with the staid and steady Supriya (Sonnalli Sehgall), who is unable to tell her orthodox parents that she is in love. As a consequence, Sid is reduced to serving as her constant chauffeur and chaperone but without ever getting close to earning the status of a certified boyfriend. Tarun (former child actor Omkar Kapoor) has to contend with a strong-willed BPO employee, Kusum (Ishita Raj), whose commitment to gender equality and a measured lifestyle borders on the obsessive.
While the honeymoon period of the relationship is amazing, troubles start to persist after a while. Anshul becomes Cheeku’s servant cum boyfriend, Siddharth becomes Kusum’s money machine and Tarun becomes a domestic help for Supriya’s parents. It is after the boys realize that their relationship is a waste, they plan on getting out of it..
Now will the three boys be able to lead their past carefree life again? How will they do it? That forms the rest of the story.
Positive Points:-
The story and its concept is similar to the prequel of the film with three young boys getting in a relation and facing the aftermath of it later. Coming to performances, every actor in the movie is amusing in their own unique ways. However just as the prequel it is the boys who take the cake in this one as well.
Kartik’s monologue is extremely humorous. Sunny tries hard to get into Divyendu’s shoes and succeeds to some level. Omkar, who has been a child actor, is confident in front of the camera and looks good too. Kartik and Nushrat’s chemistry is good.
Negative Points:-
Even though all actors try their hard to entertain us, we somewhere miss Divyendu. Also Kartik seemed a little over-the-top in a few sequences. Nushrat, in the second half is an absolute disaster. The post interval sequences are extended without reason, many of which could have been easily chopped off.
Technical Points:-
Technically, the movie is quite sound. The dialogues, especially the one-liners are awesome and extremely witty. While the first half defines a whole new level of humor, the second half could have been a lot better.
The climax, however, is good again. The songs of the film are fine and fit well in the plot. All the numbers are placed perfectly in the screenplay. The cinematography is sharp and so is the editing.
End Note:-
Pyar ka Punchnama packs a decent punch. Even though the movie speaks from a male perspective, the fact that older generation or the family audience might not connect with the theme of this movie as 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2' is a young film made, for young people by the young people.
