Movie Review
Rating :
Verdict : Sensuality can be a trap.
Love or lust, Sex or a trap can you predict what is your relationship. "The life of man upon earth is warfare" this is what the sensual drama Jism 2 revels.
Jism 2 is dark film. Though its provoked to be deep dark sensual movie its not a porn as expected. Sunny Leone plays Izna that means radiance, the light that dispels the darkness. After a night on a hotel bed that establishes the lady’s enormous power over men, Izna is hired by an intelligence agent, Ayaan Thakur (Arunoday Singh), and taken to picturesque Galle in Sri Lanka to infiltrate the secluded hideaway of a dreaded lawman-turned-assassin Kabir Wilson (Randeep Hooda).
Initially, a mist of taking the risky job she takes it as a challenge of her life. That is not yet. The killer happens to be her ex-flame. Izna sees the offer as an opportunity to make the man pay for his sins, which includes vanishing from her life without warning after a short-lived but euphoric love affair. The screenplay also touches upon the issues of terrorism, fear mongering by arms manufacturers to boost their relevance in a violent world, and the corruption of those that wield the power to influence the destiny of millions.
Pooja Bhatt’s Jism 2, scripted by Mahesh Bhatt, is not quite the full-bodied sex flick that, Leone’s presence in the cast might raise visions of. Sensuality, a raised topic, Changing relationships and outlook of people, Jism 2 has it all.
Shagufta’s scripted one-liners ("Aur bhi gham hai zamaane mein…") and the corny ("Terrorist ko maarna punya hai"), is certainly the most talked about. What slows down in Jism 2 is pace and thrills. Its unlike any other Bhatt movie that if there is a folly there is something else that make up. Sunny and Randeep Hooda’s scenes lit the flame, which made the audience get back to their seats. The sexual scenes are given a veneer of sustained sophistication. Sunny looks sensual and not cheap. On the flip side, Jism 2 fails to create the atmosphere of menace and foreboding that a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with a heartless annihilator should necessarily have generated. Even the sexual chemistry between the seductress and the two men seems somewhat labored at times. Jism 2 goes beyond the confines of carnality to refer to bigger issues, political and polemical. A certain degree of serious-mindedness that is embedded in the screenplay, that saves it falling off completely.
Nigam Bomzan’s outstanding camerawork, the songs composed by debutant Arko Provo Mukherjee and the restrained yet supercharged star turn by the ever-reliable Hooda are set to be the bright sports of the movie. Talking about its soundtracks, Jism 2 tracks are light and peace to hears.
Sunny Leone an Indo Canadian porn star was given the ticket to Bollywood to act what is similar to her job. It was Bhatt’s mind set to choose a porn star to do the film as they knew none of our Bollywood actress is so bold to do a film like Jism 2. May be some A lister may have agreed if given a chance but, as the director sets he needs a porn star he went with Sunny. Sunny has just taken her baby steps and it clearly states that she is not good at the acting part. Her deliberate expressions have pulled her a step down. She may be gorgeous or sensual by looks but fails when it comes to dialogue delivery by nature. Jism 2 has enough soul not be swamped by a curvaceous body. It is more than just another booby trap of a film. Ayaan Thakur played by Arunoday Singh is tough yet not so convincing as Hooda’s performance. Kabir Wilson (Randeep Hooda) breadths a life into the character that holds you for a long time. He gives a full support to his co actress sunny Leone. This film is designed to be Sunny Leone’s ticket to Bollywood. Unlike Jism, Jism 2 has to do much more than Love, lost and breaking one’s trust.
My verdict.
The film has everything a perfect screenplay, A good story, A soul and beautiful camera spark yet it lacks on delivering the best out of it. The movie is as cheesy as previous released Jism but it is way out of cheapness. It is a story carried forward with Kabir’s life which was earlier played by John Abhraham and now by Randeep Hooda Over all the entire movie is set to stand out a little above average.
