Movie Review
Rating :
Verdict : One time Watch
Quote-Un-Quote remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger-Danny DeVito hit movie, Twins, with a little Indian melodrama and masala twist. Twins was an excellent movie, but this one stripe down your expectation to bare minimum, by the end.
Hey Bro is a Holi festivity release but instead of being a colorful-dancing and musical feast, which people expect from Ganesh Acharya, movie bursts your color bubble.
An overweight, slow but sweet simpleton guy world comes down shattering when his father shares a secret with him, that he has a twin brother in another city who was separated from him at birth. Like every lost brother tale, our simpleton sets on journey to find his brother, only to realize that the twin is nothing like him, and he is not only a twin but better and sleeker version.
Gopi (Acharya) sets on a journey to find his brother Shiv (Maninder), when Gopi’s father (Prem Chopra) share that he has a twin brother. Gopi travels from Rajasthan to Mumbai. And as most movies, brothers meet through some out of world incidents, and rejects one another but further incidents brings them together in Bro-mance.
Movie follows these incidents, songs, item numbers and further devilry from Hanif Hilal, who is sword specialist and interesting love angle of Nupur Sharma follow.
Hey Bro kicks into new found energy every time big stars pops guest appearances. Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Prabhudheva and Amitabh Bachchan offer brief and much needed cameos.
Positive points:-
Dance and song are aplenty. So music and dance enthusiastics will be properly entertained. Mild comedy will make you laugh in places. Ganesh’s hunt is filled with over the top comic endeavors. Food enthusiastics will be happy with Gopi’s eating sprees. Maninder, Nupur and Mahie Gill fare well. Briju song is already busting charts.
Negative Points:-
Narration and execution of story is extremely haphazard. Songs keeps popping out of blue. Yet lack the shine, except Briju-Song. Post-interval movie leaves behind its central theme, Comedy, and turns into some sort of serious drama, which is confusing. Maninder’s action sequences are slow and look copied.
Technical Points:-
Dance moves are groovy and bear Ganesh’s signature. Editing and Camera work is regular. Songs and background score support weak narration, so that is a plus. Fun filled ride with clean fun.
