Movie Review

Rating :

Verdict : Enjoyable youthful entertainer, can be watched ___________________________________________________

Karan Johar has been producing some interesting films over the past two years and he is now back with his latest venture in the form of ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. Starring the talented Parineeti Chopra, Siddharth Malhotra and Directed by Vinil Mathew, ‘Hasee To Phasee’ has hit the screens today and so let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) is a businessman while his girlfriend Karishma (Adah Sharma) is an actress. Nikhil’s philosophy in life is that once you are committed to a girl, there should be no straying around or looking back.

As expected, Nikhil gets engaged to Karishma and his elders fix a grand seven day long wedding. During this time, Nikhil gets to Meeta (Parineeti Chopra) who is Karishma’s younger sister. Incidentally, Meeta is a chemical engineer who runs away from her house after robbing her own dad’s money.

During the wedding, while the entire family disowns Meeta, Nikhil helps her to get back into the family. During the course of this episode, the couple end up getting close to each other.

Will Nikhil and Meeta realize they are in love? What will happen to Nikhil’s girlfriend Karisma? Will Nikhil and Karishma call off their wedding? For an answer to all these questions, you need to watch this film on the big screen.

Positive Points:-

The story of the film is quite refreshing and the way it has been set in a wedding is quite unique. Parineeti once again steals the show with her quirky avatar as an engineer and she should be credited for choosing a de-glamorous role like this. She gives out an honest performance as a geek and steals the show.

Siddharth has come a long way from his first film and he also proves that he is not just a handsome face, but he can act as well. Siddharth’s character goes through a lot of frustration and the young actor has shown these expressions beautifully.

Adah Sharma plays an exceptional role as Siddharth’s fiancée and this girl has the looks and talent to go a very long way.

Nagetive Points:-

Though the film is well written, it lacks the pace required of a film of this nature. Somehow, you are left with a feeling that something is missing in the film. also, Siddharth and Parineeti’s chemistry lacks the sizzle.

The film does not have much of a humor quotient. The first half of the film is quite slow when compared to the second and also, the romantic elements are missing from the film.

Technical Points:-

Music by Vishal Shekhar is quite refreshing and all the songs have been shot exceptionally well. the cinematography is good and showcases the rich wedding culture lavishly. The dialogues are simple and make the film lively.

The screenplay of the film is decent as a simple subject has been handled quite well. Debutante director Vinil Mathew showcases the complexities of a coming of age love story quite well.
