Movie Review

Rating :

Verdict : Happy Ending is a light fun film, and nothing much. You could catch a show for a Happy (week) Ending. ____________________________________________________________________________________

The Go Goa Gone famed director jodi Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru's "Happy Ending" starring Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Ileana D'Cruz and Ranvir Shorey in the leads, released in theatres today. It is a spoof on romcoms. The movie revolves around the story of a writer, who is caught between finding inspiration and finding love and an actor, who is making desperate attempts to save his stardom. So let's find out whether 'Happy Ending' will enhance the elite list of Saif starrer rom-com type of films or might just be an another addition to his fading career.

Story:-

Yudi Jaitely (Saif Ali Khan), is a helpless writer, who is a one time wonder, with only one best selling book to his credit. The book has brought him wealth, ladies and everything a man could think of. But there is a limitation to everything and Yudi doesn’t realize that luck cannot work for long. He loses all the fame and money he has and is now looking for something desperately to make money. Yudi now approaches a Bollywood star Armaan who asks him to pen down a story for his movie. During the course of writing the story, he meets another emerging writer Aanchal (Ileana), who helps him in the process. The two unromantic people start spending time together.

Will Yudi get his fame and money back? Will he develop an connection with Aanchal? Forms the rest of the story.

Positive Points:-

When we reviewed Go Goa Gone, we were short of words of praises for the extremely talented director duo Raj and DK, and this time again they leave no scope for error, apart from a few misses here and there.

The casting again proved to be a plus for the film. Saif Ali Khan, who is already a hit in the category of rom-com’s, is now trying his hands in comedy about rom coms. The word for him is fabulous. Saif knows when and how to use his comical sense and take the scene to an altogether different level. Also, Saif’s duplicate character named Yogi is hilarious. His dialogue delivery and expressions crack you up everytime. Ileana, who has played a mere damsel in distress in her earlier films, sure proves her worth in this one. She looks glamorous and delivers a praiseworthy performance. Kalki is seen in an all new avatar and is equally amazing in all her shots. Ranveer Shorey comes onscreen after a long time and so does his immense talent. The actor is extremely witty and funny in every scene.

And above all, the King of comedy, Govinda is growing talented than old with time. The audiences clap and laugh their lungs out everytime the actor utters a single word. He the one to look out for. Saif and Ileana showcase an amazing and fun chemistry and look too cute together.

Negative Points:-

Unlike Go Goa Gone, which had an abrupt ending, Happy Ending was a decent ending, the way to it is slow and steady. Somewhere in between the second half, the movie looses its charm. The writers seem to have gone out of humorous dialogues to not add any in the second half.

Another negative being that naturally with Saif in the lead, who else do we expect to rule the screens. However, this does not mean that a talent like Govinda cannot be given much scope. The actor is only present in 3 or 4 scenes in this whole affair, which is a huge disappointment.

Technical Points:-

The directors have come up with a light hearted film, which will be a refreshmemt in many ways from the usual old masala and tedious romantic comedies. Music of the film given by Sachin-Jigar is beautiful. Songs including ‘Jaise Mera Tu’ and ‘G Phaad Ke’ are the best of the lot.

Even though the screenplay goes haywire in the second half, the first half is absolutely hilarious without any errors as such. Editing is excellent and so is the beautifully conducted cinematography.

After watching "Happy Ending", many viewers took to their Twitter to share their takes on the movie. Some seem to be quite impressed with the film, while a few say it lacks freshness in terms of story. Overall, most of the movie buffs have given the film a thumbs up.
