Movie Review

Rating :

Verdict : One time Watch

Jawaani Jaaneman is a 'youth-obsessed' movie that spends a major portion of waking hours, chatting up girls half his age and taking part in juvenile drinking games. Its 2-hour run time at the local club and a salon. Though the subject was contemporary, the movie failed to connect with the audience. The movie starts with the song ‘Ole ole’, which has put on view the direction and the screenplay of the movie appalling. However, the characters of the movie were cherished, but still the film proved out to be as one-time watch. Due to its awful direction, screenplay and dialogues the film acquired 3-star ratings.

About the movie, the first half of the movie established to be boring and pathetic. The connectivity of the scenes was lacking. The second half was quite entertaining and narrative. For some audience the remix of the song ‘ole ole’ was pleasant and enjoyable. For some it was mind- numbing. Even the relationship of father and daughter has not been portrayed precisely.  About the seriousness and complexity of relationship, the film missed the mark. Overall the movie bear out to be for niche audience and not mass entertaining.

Talking about the characters, Saif has always been a natural at playing the smooth and urbane kinds with the right dose of sophistication. He also brings out the weakness of his character despite his unbalanced ways. Newbie Alaya F who has played the role of Saif Ali Khan’ daughter (Tia) turned out to be natural actor. This new talent definitely showed her promise and potential. Watching Tabu as a spiritually empowered hippy was quite refreshing. Though the talented actress barely shared any screen time or real purpose in the narrative. Among the supporting cast, actress Kubbra Sait has a stunning screen presence. Her character of a young divorced woman looking for a mature relationship is bound to resonate with many. Farida Jalal, Chunky Panday and Kumud Mishra also lend good support.
