Production giant Ekta Kapoor under her home banner Balaji Motion Pictures announces a new film titled The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey in the lead role.
The film is inspired by true events that took place on the Sabarmati Express on the morning of 27 Feb 2002. The film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in the lead roles, helmed by Ranjan Chandel.
The official handle of Balaji Motion Pictures dropped a promo on social media, it said, “Get ready to unfold history with an untold story - The Sabarmati Report - a riveting journey into the 2002 incident that left an indelible mark on the entire nation! Based on the infamous Godhra train burning incident, which occurred on the morning of 27 February 2002%3A 59 Hindu pilgrims and Karsevaks returning from Ayodhya were killed in a fire inside the Sabarmati Express near the Godhra railway station in the Indian state of Gujarat.
Following the train incident, the Gujarat riots, in which Muslims were the targets of widespread and severe violence, occurred shortly afterward.
The film is slated for 3 May 2024 release.
