Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar once again expressed his deep admiration for the legendary Charlie Chaplin during the trailer launch of his upcoming comedy film Housefull 5. Known for his flair in physical and slapstick comedy, Akshay took a heartfelt moment at the event to share how Chaplin has been a personal inspiration throughout his career.
While discussing the genre of the film, Akshay addressed a question from the media about the return of slapstick comedy in Housefull 5. He emphasized the skill it takes to deliver such humor, saying, “Slapstick comedy is not as easy as it seems. It demands perfect timing and physical effort. It may look silly on screen, but it’s one of the hardest forms of comedy to perform. I’ve had the privilege of working with brilliant comic actors like Nana Patekar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan—who’ve all mastered this genre.”
Akshay then surprised the audience with a personal anecdote. He revealed that he carries a small photograph of Charlie Chaplin in his wallet—an everyday reminder of the iconic filmmaker’s influence on his life and craft. When he offered to show it, the media responded with an enthusiastic “Yes!” and he proudly displayed the picture, receiving warm applause.
Chaplin, a towering figure from the silent film era, is best known for his timeless character “The Little Tramp” and his innovative work as an actor, writer, and director. His impact on global cinema continues to inspire generations of performers, including Akshay, who described him as “the ultimate master of physical comedy.”
Akshay’s emotional tribute added a thoughtful note to the otherwise high-energy launch of Housefull 5, a film that promises a wild blend of slapstick and action comedy. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, Jackie Shroff, Johny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sonam Bajwa, and Soundarya Sharma.
Housefull 5 is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2025, delivering chaos, laughter, and perhaps a little Chaplin-esque charm.
