In the teaser of ‘Kalank’, makers of the film has given preference to female actors over the male actors in its opening credits, when asked Johar reason for that, he said, “All of us have been bought up into this universe by women and I have been raised by group of strong women and I think these three strong, wonderful women are heart, soul and spine of ‘Kalank’. There is no way that the men could ever match up to their prowess, beauty and intellect so, that’s the reason why they stand tall, proud and first in the series of events.”
With an epic star cast of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt, ‘Kalank’ is set in the 1940s era.
When asked Aditya whether he felt insecure about his screen-time while working in the film, he said, “We did this film because there was depth to every character. The script was something that blew me away and Abhishek’s (Verman) vision which was very clear and when you have director that can put his message across to you about how he is seeing something to make you feel safe and comfortable about that then, I think everybody feels good about their place.”
Adding to Aditya Roy Kapur’s statement, Alia said, “It’s a true ensemble film so that means every character is a primary character even if you see monkey, he will also be a primary character so, it’s a true ensemble.”
