Verdict : Salman Khan starrer Bharat trails from the journey to a montage of heroic acts
Salman Khan over the years has given many hits but his last two Eid special releases like Tubelight and Race 3 had upset fans. Even with Tiger franchise doing so well it was still not the Eid release Bhai fans wanted but with Bharat's release, the film has already hit a record-breaking opening. Salman Khan starrer Bharat is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is a remake of the Korean film Ode to my father.
The original is an ordinary man's journey to a time of hardship for the promise he made to his father while Bharat is a story of a man who influenced a nation's journey and lives a heroic life with his loved ones. The film stars with Salman Khan parting from his father as the last train leaves for new Indian borders, the shot brings out the right emotions and perspective in what kind of film this will be. An emotional story that will share the highs and lows of the young boy, which is a classic trope since the 90's but it all changes quickly at Salman Khan's entry.
Jackie Shroff looks amazing in the age-old avatar and takes the stage in a very small role to give his best, Sonali Kulkarni too has shined while she had the chance and Katrina Kaif may have found the kind of characters she has a knack for. Sunil Grover, on the other hand, is a new story after Pataakha we have been waiting for his next amazing role which seems like a waste of hope on this character. As Salman Khan's childhood friend he has good screen time but very little to offer to the film.
The film's direction and screenplay trails to a story different from the start of the film. It focuses on the heroic acts while we miss out of the promise and the emotion behind it. This Salman Khan starter might be a hit for miss for the fans, with a miss for most.
