Bombairiya is an upcoming 2019 Indian Hindi-language black comedy drama film directed by Pia Sukanya and written and produced by Michael E. Ward with story from Ward, Sukanya and Aarti Bagdi. The film stars Radhika Apte, Siddhanth Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Adil Hussain, Ravi Kishan, Amit Sial, Ajinkya Deo and Shilpa Shukla.
Verdict : Tries to entertain with an agenda.
From the first scene to the end, it is clear what the film wants to talk about. A cause for unsung heroes of our justice system, but the makers conveniently forget about it all throughout the middle. Focusing on, Radhika the frustrated PR, Siddhant the Peon, and Akshay the annoying sweet gentleman the film take flight into a chaotic day bringing them all together for the cause.
Bombairiya catches the glimpse of Mumbai perfectly. The policewalas, local businesses, small streets, and the beach views constantly remind us of the city. Like the busy lives we all live, everyone in the film has their own version of the truth and their own problems to look at.
The director Pia Sukanya and cinematographer Karthik Ganesh takes the credit for bringing the film to life.
Where the film falls in place managing the chaos it has created. It gives us some of the best scenes in the film but it also takes away the true meaning of the film which conveniently appears towards only the beginning and the end.
Since Bombairiya spans over only a day's time, there is hardly any back story given to us regarding the villains in the film. Which they cover up with a narration at the end.
The film created with a pure intention to say something while entertaining the audience end ups with a story that can either entertain or support the cause.
